The Chesapeake Bay
At East Beach, life revolves around the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States. (An estuary is a place where salt and fresh waters mix.) The Bay supports 348 species of finfish, 173 species of shellfish, over 2,700 plant species – and thousands of people who love the water. From boaters, to fishing enthusiasts, to jet-skiers, windsurfers, kayakers, beachcombers, swimmers, bird watchers, and sun worshippers.

East Beach was designed to take full advantage of the Chesapeake Bay, with bay front greens that offer sweeping vistas of the bay, as well as physical access to the bay. The bay’s warm waters and gentle waves create an ideal playground for your children and make swimming both pleasurable and safe.

Watercraft such as jet-skis, windsurfers, kayaks, and small boats can be easily launched from the beach. From the deep-water marinas at Pretty Lake, larger boats have easy access to the bay and the world-class fishing found at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, with no bridges to navigate.

Of course, one of the greatest pleasures of living on the Chesapeake Bay is simply strolling on the beach, enjoying the sand between your toes, the salty air, and the rhythmic lapping of the waves on the shore.
