When asked about her longevity in the custom home building business, Betty Ridgeway, of Executive Homes Corp. of Virginia, attributes her success to the team of subcontractors who have been with her for so many years. Everyone at her company takes pride in their workmanship, and it shows.

Before opening her business in 1986, Betty was an associate broker in the real estate sales business. Working closely with buyers and builders for several years, Betty decided to branch out on her own to become one of the few women builders in Tidewater. Mark Neumann, a custom framing subcontractor with 25 years experience, came on board in the late 90's. Their partnership and diversity have been instrumental to the success of the business.

For Betty, East Beach represents the growing glory in the renaissance of Ocean View. She witnessed both the beauty and the opportunity in the area when she built her daughter's home next to East Beach. After reviewing the East Beach development plans, Mark and Betty were impressed by the high-quality standards for design, materials and craftsmanship of the homes and the rest of the neighborhood.
